On Thursday, the first graders enjoyed seeing life-sized puppets perform skits that were designed to teach important topics facing children. This educational program focused on cultural diversity and school safety. After the show our class got to meet the puppets up close! The children asked lots of good questions and it opened up a nice dialogue with the puppeteers. Puppets in Education is dedicated to teaching children in Vermont how to keep themselves safe and healthy and to appreciate each other's physical and cultural differences!
Welcome to our First Grade Community of Learners! We hope you enjoy seeing some of the things we do in school. Thanks for your interest. Love, Mrs. Reagan

Picturing Writing!
Picturing Writing is an art-and-literature-based apprach to writing that integrates visual modes of thinking in every stage of the writing process. Children learn how to create pictures that tell a story and write words that paint pictures. This realistic fiction story will center around their Vermont animal that they just completed a report about. This is what they have done so far.....
Creating the setting with crayon resist technique! |
This is the setting of my story! |
Then we created a list of words to describe our setting! |
Then we wrote the story! We will publish our stories soon! |
Our Non-fiction reports on Vermont animals are amazing!
Painting the habitat! |
Now I add my animal I made out of clay! This porcupine looks so real with the spines! |
We hope you can stop by the school and see them! |
We learned so much about our animals! We know what they look like, where they live, what they eat and much more! |
